Private Sales and Information
If you are interested in placing a reservation, purchasing, or have questions, please submit your information in the response box below and we will get back to you soon.
We do not ship or deliver goats.
We reserve the right to refuse sale of any animal on our farm.
It is expected that the buyers educate themselves on the needs of and care requirements for goats and are able to provide them with proper food, shelter, water, medical care, shelter, a safe enclosure (goats need a fenced in area and cannot be tied out like dogs can), and a fellow goat for companionship (goats NEED to be with at least one other goat---a dog, horse, cow, or any other animal will not provide them with the herd fellowship that they need to be happy). Goats will not be sold if it is apparent that the interested parties are not willing to learn about how to care for them or cannot or will not provide for them all that they need.
When reserving a goat or contracting to purchase, a nonrefundable deposit and signed contract must be received before the agreement is official. Deposits are generally $50 bucks/wethers and $75 does. The balance is due upon pick up.
Reserved kids and all goats contracted to purchase must be picked up and paid for in full within two weeks from the time that the deposit is received/ confirmation email sent to acknowledge that the deposit was received) or the animal will be resold and the holding deposit will be lost. We will notify you via email when a reserved kid is born and if pick up is not made within those two weeks, the kid will be either retained or re-listed for sale and the deposit will be forfeited. Should the same buyer want to purchase a re-listed kid, another deposit will have to be paid.
Pearce Pastures has the right to retain any kid over any reservations. In this case, buyers would be given the option to have their deposit returned or applied to another available animal.
Deposits and payments are to be made by money order or cash and are nonrefundable. Sorry, but no personal checks. All buyers will have had the opportunity to examine the animal for sale/ or the unborn animal's dam and sire via pictures or in person prior to placing a deposit to purchase. No claims or representations have been made about the animal by the seller. By paying a deposit, or down payment, the buyer agrees to, and is bound by, all terms, conditions and responsibilities laid out in the sale contract and in the sales policies of Pearce Pastures.
Once an animal is sold, the sale is final. No refunds or exchanges will be made, no exceptions. No goat comes with a guarantee of any kind in regards to health, breeding capacity, show-worthiness, or dairy production. All healthcare and maintenance issues and expenses, be they required or desired, are the responsibility of the purchaser. While we provide great care for our animals, their well-being after leaving our grounds becomes the responsibility of the new owner.
It is the buyer's responsibility to pay for the cost of registering the animal and/or transferring registration, as are the member association fees for the registries. Registration papers will be mailed to the buyer upon the seller's receipt of the papers from the associations with which the animal is registered.
The buyer is responsible for provided proper transportation for the animal and is responsible for all associated costs. Goats should be provided transportation that is safe, secure, well-ventilated, and out of the wind and weather. If the buyer shows up to pick up the goat with what Pearce Pastures determines to be unsatisfactory/ unsafe transportation, we retain the right to refuse to release the animal until appropriate transportation is arranged (which must be done in with two weeks or the contract will be voided and the deposit forfeited).
The buyer is responsible for knowing about and obtaining any certificates, permits, or veterinary service needed when transporting a goat across state lines. Pearce Pastures will not research a buyer's state requirements nor provide any paperwork that is required by the buyer's state. If a buyer needs paperwork completed for sale, the paperwork should be provided to Pearce Pastures by the buyer prior to or at the time of purchase.
Goats that are transported from one location to another, regardless of the length of the trip are sometimes subject to what is called "shipping fever" and the stress of leaving their home can make them more prone to other sicknesses as well. Pearce Pastures is not responsible for shipping fever or other stress related illness and is not liable for medical care associated with either. Before buying goats, please take care to educate yourself on this and other illnesses to which goats are susceptible so that you may provide them with the care they need or recognize when you need to seek assistance from a veterinarian in a timely manner.
